Conducting research is based on the fact that the researcher is searching for new knowledge, prove a hypothesis, establish new ideas, solve existing problems and come up with narrative facts. Based on the fact that human activities of an individual may have limit but knowledge may have not indicate that knowledge of a research conducted earlier may be irrelevant today whereas a whereas that conducted today may be irrelevant tomorrow shows that there is no hope of a perfect research.
The objectives of a researcher always change and affect the researcher’s needs because of the varying issues in the society such as politics, economics, religion culture and environment. These bring the researcher in a condition that he has to find solutions of new problems in daily life. This bring the fact that previous facts and findings become insufficient to handle today’s problems and today’s knowledge end up being insufficient tomorrow . A research is viewed as a systematic search for knowledge, due to the fact that knowledge is endless then there is no research that is deemed perfect.
Researches are always subject to frequent examinations and evaluations. Many researches can be carried out on the same topic but come up with different finds; this is because of the varying aspect of the environment and the method of research. For example a research can be conducted on popularity of two political candidates, i.e. A and B and finds out that candidate A is more popular than B. while another research is conducted on the same topic gives findings directly opposite to the first research. Another reason making a research imperfect is the fact that human beings are always emotional and rational. The researcher carries this element in him and this causes biases and prejudice in the research making it incorrect and objectives. Researchers are then not capable to give correct answers to problems but increase the probability to have accurate answers.
Due to the fact that time changes, then human being must also change so as to develop. Human beings have been constantly changing since the time of ancestors and have developed with the changing time. Taking an example of development of vehicles, it started with development of a wind driven vehicle by several Italians, then came the steam engine vehicles from china by father Ferdinand Verbiest. Then came the first vehicle to operate with coal gas designed by Etienne Lenoir which was followed by development of oil driven vehicles by 1893 done by frank and Duryea. This have been after a result of frequent research done to help come up with new knowledge to solve problems that existed by then. This has developed to the new modern vehicles which are highly efficient. With the recent research being on development of electric cars indicates that research will never cease to such for new knowledge with the past being seen as insufficient today.
As human beings develop day by day from emerging of new technology and knowledge, there are always new methods of doing thing which end up diminishing the importance of the past findings and knowledge. A good example is the knowledge of astronomy which for many years having been developing. New knowledge is discovered. In the past people had only the knowledge of the nine planets but later last year scientist found out that there was another planet which was similar to earth and called it Kepler 20 F. This was after the development of more powerful telescope called Nasa space telescope. From this one can tell that due to the changing in development of new ways of doing things past knowledge will seem useless today. Hence no hope of doing a perfect research as every research will always be challenged with new technology and changes with time.
In conclusion, there is no hope of doing a perfect research due to factors such as biases of the researcher, changing of objectives of the researcher due to external environmental changes such as politics, society, economy and culture and finally the development of new technologies leads to diminishing of the past finding.
